Workshop Schools and Master Artisans

Training in the field of Florentine Goldsmithing is based on a pathway that combines theoretical learning with daily practical experience in the workshop.

It is in the artisan workshop that technical knowledge is passed on through progressive participation in the operational stages, observation of the working method, controlled repetition of gestures and constant verification of results.

The Consorzio Stile Orafo Fiorentino recognises and enhances this training model, identifying workshop schools as the privileged place for the continuity and development of the Style.

In this context, the figure of the Master Artisan plays a central role: as guarantor of technical quality, consistency with the Production Regulations and the conscious transmission of the craft to new generations.

The Master Artisan qualification

The Master Artisan qualification is a recognition established under the regulations of the Region of Tuscany, governed by Article 22 of Regional Law 53/2008 and by Presidential Decree of the Regional Government No. 46/R of 7 August 2012.

It is an official recognition awarded to owners or partners in artisan businesses who demonstrate adequate professional experience, proven technical competence and training ability.

The qualification certifies mastery of the craft and suitability to carry out training activities in the artisan sector. The Master Artisan is therefore recognised as a figure qualified for the transmission of technical and professional skills, through direct mentoring and the integration of apprentices or young workers into the production environment.

It is a qualification that combines experience, expertise and training responsibility, establishing the workshop as a structured place of practical learning, in compliance with current regulations.

Accreditation as a Workshop School

Accreditation as a Workshop School is a recognition provided for under Tuscan regional legislation on craftsmanship and vocational training. It identifies artisan businesses that, in addition to carrying out production activities, are formally authorised to perform a training role within their own workshop.

The recognition requires the presence of a qualified Master Artisan and compliance with the requirements established by regional regulations, with reference both to technical and professional aspects and to the organisational and structural suitability of the business.

In the goldsmithing sector, this model is particularly significant: the complexity of traditional techniques, the precision required in the processes and the need for constant quality control make workshop-based training an essential tool for ensuring continuity, rigour and professional consistency.

The Consortium’s Master Artisans

Within the Consorzio Stile Orafo Fiorentino, some Consortium members have obtained the Master Artisan qualification pursuant to regional regulations.
